Her oldest son is killed by another officer on the same police force who subsequently gets off for the murder. The story picks up on her first day back to work and deals with the emotions that she is feeling. Does she belong? Does she still want to be a cop? How does her family feel; her husband and younger son? As she navigates her emotions she runs into the killer of her son as he is gathering his things and being reassigned to another district setting the stage for her long awaited confrontation.
